Super 6 Program Sets Up Genesee’s Stretch Run to September Starting Saturday

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (August 14, 2017)- Amazingly, there are only three regular season remaining in the 2017 calendar, which means that teams in the trail position in the point standings will need big nights this Saturday to stay in the hunt.

This Saturday, August 19, the fine folks at Dale Valley Diecast will sponsor a “Super 6 at 6:00” program, featuring the return of the Ken’s Charcoal Pits 360 Late Models.  All six divisions have three races remaining, and with no point’s race having more than a single night’s separation, the action is intense throughout.

Four of the six divisions have the top two separated by 15 points or less, including the MHL Performance Crate Late Models, where it is a three-way battle, with JJ Mazur up 15 points on Zack Carley, and Saturday Night’s winner Jimmy Johnson only 16 back.  Bill Holmes is also within striking distance as all three drivers pursue their first championship.

The Ken’s Charcoal Pits 360 Late Models also features 15 point separation between the top two, with Dave DuBois stretching out his advantage over Tommy Kemp over the last month of the stretch off two straight wins.  John Zimmerman is also still in the mix as the unique division returns from a one-week hiatus.

Byron Dewitt continues to run well in the Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks, and finally was able to build his point lead up to 15 over Mike Jackson.  Jesse Qutermous got his second win of the year on Saturday and while the title might be out of his grasp, he has closed in on defending champion Butch Zimmerman for third.

The closest points race is in the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks as teenager Dante Mancuso is now just 10 points up on James Gayton after Gayton scored his fourth win of the season on Saturday in dramatic fashion over Brad Shepard, who has moved up to third in the standings.

Kyle Inman was able to gain some separation in his pursuit of his second consecutive Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman championship, scoring his fifth win of the year by over five seconds, and moving his point lead over rival Andrew Smith to 28 points.

Jessica Traxler may not officially have the largest point lead, but her 26-point advantage in the DML Driveway Sealing Bandits is effectively the largest as the smaller fields leave more margin for error heading down the stretch.  Bailey Logsdon remains in the hunt though as she won both her heat and her third feature of the year on Saturday.

Pit gates will swing open at 4:30 P.M. while the front gates will open up at 5:00 P.M.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Micro Sprints Set To Soar at Genesee Saturday

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (August 8, 2017)- After a wild night of racing last Saturday Night, the Genesee Speedway keeps on rolling this weekend and for added excitement brings in some winged warriors to turn the speed up.

Dickinson’s Automotive will present this Saturday’s program, featuring a five star program, as well as the second and final appearance by the NY6A Micro Sprints.  Matt Smith, the defending Genesee Mini Series Champion, was the winner of the first appearance by the chain-driven beasts back on June 17th and leads the series standings.  The micro sprints takes the place of the Ken’s Charcoal Pits and BBQ 360 Late Models for the night, the final regular season show the 360s will have off for the remainder of 2017.  This means Tommy Kemp and John Zimmerman only have three races left to chase down Dave DuBois for the Championship.

Five point races will intensify even more this weekend, led by the MHL Performance Crate Late Models.  JJ Mazur’s second place finish to Jeremy Wonderling Saturday helped him build a 13-point advantage over Zack Carley.  Bill Holmes and Jimmy Johnson are still within striking distance but need strong results this weekend to remain in the mix.

Even though 15 points still separate Kyle Inman and Andrew Smith in the Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman, things could not feel any more intense right now in the division.  Smith’s physical maneuver to take the win from Inman on Saturday was followed by a passionate proclamation in Victory Lane about his pursuit for the title.  Inman has yet to finish outside the top three so far in 2017 though and will make things tough on Smith if he continues those results.

Byron Dewitt also made an authoritative statement on Saturday, just in a much different way as he notched his fifth Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stock win, his second in a row.  Dewitt is now 12 points ahead of Mike Jackson, but one mechanical failure would erase that so things are still razor-thin.

Dante Mancuso is 21 points up on James Gayton in the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks, a number that has continued to grow since the beginning of July.  Similarly, Jessica Traxler has built her lead in the DML Driveway Sealing Bandits to 30 points over Bailey Logsdon.

Pit gates will swing open at 4:30 P.M. while the front gates will open up at 5:00 P.M.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Genesee Drivers Gear Up For Final Month of Regular Season Starting Saturday

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (August 2, 2017)- The final month of the 2017 regular season at the Genesee Speedway is about to begin and many teams are looking to get a victory before the checkered flag falls on the season.

This Saturday, August 5th, Select Collision will present a “Super 6 at 6:00” Program.  This event will feature the next round in the Crate Late Model Double Down Series with Outlaw Speedway.  Zack Carley, who won in Batavia on Saturday, is the point leader of that mini series, however remains second in the MHL Performance Crate Late Model Standings.  JJ Mazur is just eight points up on Carley, with Jimmy Johnson and Billy Holmes both within a dozen points of the top spot.

Andrew Smith dominated the Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman Feature on Saturday and closed the gap on point leader Kyle Inman to 18 points.  It will take another big performance for the Lockport, NY driver this weekend to keep gaining on Inman, the defending champion, who has yet to finish outside the top three thus far in 2017.

The Ken’s Charcoal Pits BBQ 360 Late Models are back in action this Saturday, but with their final bye week of the season coming up, teams will be eager to establish momentum heading in to the final three shows.  Dave DuBois put on a clinic Saturday for his third win of the year and is eight points up on Tommy Kemp in pursuit of his sixth-straight track championship.

Byron Dewitt made a statement on Saturday, winning his fourth feature of the season to take back the point lead in the Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks.  Mike Jackson remains just two points back while Butch Zimmerman is still within striking distance.

It’s a three-car battle for the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stock Championship, with Dante Mancuso now 13 points up on James Gayton and 21 ahead of Mike Taddonio.  Don Newton Jr won his third feature in the last five starts on Saturday and should be a factor again this weekend.

Invader Brooke McClain picked up a surprising win the DML Driveway Sealing Bandits Saturday, holding off Jessica Traxler, who has built up her point lead to 22 points.  Bailey Logsdon continues to give chase but will need to close the gap starting this Saturday.

Pit gates will swing open at 4:30 P.M. while the front gates will open up at 5:00 P.M.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Genesee Goes Back to Saturday Night Showcase This Weekend

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (July 24, 2017)- A wild stretch of four races in 16 days, including two midweek shows has come and gone and now the focus turns to the final stretch of the 2017 regular season at the Genesee Speedway.  The extra few days off should give teams a chance to survey the points, as well as retool for a run at their first or another win or two in 2017.

This Saturday, July 29, AJ’s Trailer Sales and Marx Vinyl Graphics will present a “Super 6 at 6:00” program.

JJ Mazur leads the MHL Performance Crate Late Models by 11 points, now over Jimmy Johnson as Zack Carley is back to third in the standings.  Bill Holmes is close as well, only 16 points away from the top spot.

The Sportsman had their biggest race to date on Thursday, but it was show-up points only; this mean that even though Andrew Smith was declared the winner for the second time this year, he remains 24 markers back of defending champion Kyle Inman.

After a week off, the Ken’s Charcoal Pits & BBQ 360 Late Models are back in action, with their super-tight point still intact.  Defending Champion Dave DuBois is just two points ahead of Tommy Kemp and just seven ahead of John Zimmerman, the most recent winner.

The Yasses Trucking Street Stocks saw some major point race swings last Thursday as Byron Dewitt surrendered the top spot after not being able to start the feature.  Mike Jackson, off his second win of the year, now is just one point ahead of Dewitt in pursuit of his first track championship.  Butch Zimmerman and Jesse Qutermous are still within striking distance, especially considering what happened on Thursday.

After shaking off early-season gremlins, Dante Mancuso has finally moved to the top of the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stock standings.  James Gayton has now slipped back to second, just ahead of Mike Taddonio who remains in the race.

The DML Driveway Sealing Bandits put on another epic battle in Thursday’s event, with Jessica Traxler coming out on top for the fifth time this year.  She now holds an 18 point lead over Bailey Logsdon, with almost every Bandit regular still in the mix.

Pit gates will swing open at 4:30 P.M. while the front gates will open up at 5:00 P.M.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

To Be Fair: Thursday Night Special at Genesee Should Be Awesome

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (July 17, 2017)- The annual Thursday Night Special during the Genesee County Fair has been a long-standing tradition, but never before has hit paid out so much and had this many teams excited for the green flag to drop.

This Thursday, July 20, L&L Transmission will present a star-studded night of stock car racing at the Genesee Speedway, with a special start time set for 7:00 p.m.  Teams from far and wide will travel in to the Genesee County Fairgrounds to go after the substantial purses that have been posted throughout.

The $1,500-to-win GRIT Sportsman Tour “The Wheel Deal 30” will be the largest-paying event of the night.  This is the first appearance by the GRIT Sportsman Series, which will bring in invaders trying to knock off the amazing group of Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman regulars.  Ray Bliss became the sixth different sportsman winner at the 1/3-mile on Saturday, while Sarah Johnson and Ricky Newton gave challenges.  Kyle Inman still leads the standings while Andrew Smith has been a solid second.  All teams in attendance will be going for the $1,500 top prize, but $125-to-start will also be an added bonus.

The sportsman division will receive 25 show-up points for competing in this tour race, but the other four divisions will be running for full points which is sure to keep things intense from top to bottom.

The MHL Performance Late Models will have $1,000 on the line for their event.  Saturday’s event saw Zack Carley scored his second win of the season and move to second in points, only two points behind JJ Mazur.  A host of part-time invaders are expected to try and steal the four-figure payday.

A new development over the last few days has been the bump in payout for the Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks.  DC Enterprise has bolstered the top prize to reward the winner of the 20-lap feature $500.  Adam DePuy invaded to win on Saturday, while current point leader Byron Dewitt had to pull off early.  Dewitt still maintains a 24-point advantage, now over Mike Jackson who has moved by Butch Zimmerman for the runner-up spot in the standings.

Week in and week out, the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks have had some of the most intense finishes of the feature action.  Don Newton Jr. came out with the win on Saturday, despite running third with one lap remaining.  Defending champion Brad Shepard has been coming on strong while Mike Taddonio is closing in on his first win of the year.  James Gayton and Dante Mancuso continue to duel it out for the title while battling mid-season gremlins.

Also on the card will be the popular DML Driveway Sealing Bandits running their 12-lap feature.  Marcus Jackson notched his second win of the season, holding off Bailey Logsdon, who also had two wins.  Jessica Traxler remains the point leader, but her advantage took a hit after he troubles in Saturday’s event.

Off for the week will be the Ken’s Charcoal Pits 360 Late Models.  John Zimmerman got his second win of the season on Saturday, and has made it three car battle for the championship.  Zimmerman is just seven points back of Dave DuBois, who is only two points ahead of Tommy Kemp.

As a reminder, there will not be any stock car racing at Genesee Speedway this Saturday Night, as the oval gives way to tractor pulls.  The pit gates will swing open at 4:30, with the grandstands opening up at 5:30.  Teams and Race fans alike will be able to enjoy the fair before entering the grandstands.  A shuttle will be provided once again this year for teams that need assistance moving around the fairgrounds.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Autograph Night Set for Saturday to Kick off Second Half of 2017 Season

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (July 12, 2017)- Believe it or not, the 2017 racing season at the Genesee Speedway is now halfway complete, which means that the point races begin to take focus as that thought of championships begin to conjure.

This Saturday, July 15, Beamer’s Sales & Service will present a Super 6 at 6:00 program, featuring the highly-popular autograph session.  Last year’s autograph night saw the local racing community flood the front stretch to acquire signatures, candy and other goodies.  This year expects to be no different.

In addition to the autograph fun, Saturday will be the third round of the Genesee/Outlaw Double Down Crate Late Model Challenge Series.  Jimmy Johnson leads those standings, while JJ Mazur commands the top spot in the MHL Performance standings.  It’s still a wide-open point race, just like the feature races have been with five different winners in seven races.

Kyle Inman has gotten on a hot streak in the Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman, winning four of the last five events.  Andrew Smith is not letting Inman ride off to his second straight championship without a fight though, as is Ray Bliss who is still looking for his first Genesee win of the year.

The Ken’s Charcoal Pits 360 Late Models is ultra-competitive, with only one point separating leader Tommy Kemp and Dave DuBois, who won last Saturday’s event.  John Zimmerman is also within shouting distance of the top spot.

The largest current point lead is held by Byron Dewitt, as he leads the Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks by 27 points off the strength of his three wins.  Butch Zimmerman is still looking for his first win, but still sits second in points just ahead of Mike Jackson.

James Gayton continues to lead the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks, but his advantage is down to a single point after mechanical issues this past week slowed the No. 10 car.  Dante Mancuso is now in striking position in second while defending champion Brad Shepard has reeled off two wins in the last three events.

Bailey Logsdon had a dominant week in the DML Driveway Sealing Bandits, sweeping the two events in three days.  The youth division now has seen five of the nine regulars go to Victory Lane this season, with point leader Jessica Traxler scoring the most wins with four.

Racing action will roll off this Saturday at 6:00 P.M., with pit gates swinging open at 4:00 P.M.  As a reminder, the next event following Saturday will be Thursday, July 20 for the annual Genesee County Fair race featuring the GRIT Sportsman Series and a $1,000-to-win Crate Late Model event.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Super Late Models Soar in to Genesee Speedway Thursday for Massive Week of Racing

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (July 3, 2017)- For the first time in 27 years, super late models are set to invade the Genesee County Fairgrounds, with a special show slated for Thursday.  In addition, a full card of racing is also staged for Saturday Night action to make two big nights of action in three days.

The ULMS Super Late Model Tour will make their first appearance at the Genesee Speedway this Thursday, July 6.  The tour features top names such as Dave Hess, Greg Oakes and Max Blair, who will challenge against drivers with Genesee experience like Damian Bidwell and Super Late Model rookie Dave DuBois, who is a multi-time 360 Late Model champion at the track.  The ULMS competitors are expected to turn some of the fastest laps of the season on the 1/3-mile. S&S Limousines will present the night of action, which has a special 7:00 P.M. start time and will feature a special fireworks presentation.

In addition to the late model excitement, the sportsman will compete in a $1,000-to-win, $100-to-start special.  Kyle Inman has won 2 of the last 3 Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman features to grow his point lead, but Andrew Smith, Ray Bliss and a host of others will be looking to steal the 4-figure payday in the ultra-competitive division.

Also on the card will be a special $250-to-win Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stock feature.  James Gayton still leads the standings but only by three points over Dante Mancuso.  Brad Shepard won the last race in his familiar No. 1p and the three-time champion looks to stay hot with a larger payday on the line. The DML Driveway Sealing Bandits will complete the classes for the special Thursday event.  Jessica Traxler won her fourth event in the last five races and keeps building the point lead.

Just after the dust settles Thursday night, there will be a fast turnaround for the sportsman, mini stock and bandit teams to get ready for Saturday night, when Carquest features a Super 6 at 6:00 program.  The MHL Performance Crate Late Models will be back with their incredibly competitive action.  JJ Mazur took the point lead back off the strength of his second win of the year last race, but Bill Holmes and Zack Carley are both within five points of the top spot.

The Ken’s Charcoal Pits 360 Late Models are still riding high after a 4-way battle for the lead with Brian Kotarski coming out on top for his first win in two years.  The division now features four wins in the five races thus far this year, with point leader Tommy Kemp the only repeat winner.

The Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks shook it up a little bit last race, surviving a torrential downpour in the middle of their event. Mike Jackson got his first win in over a year and now closing in on the top two in points.  Byron Dewitt continues to lead Butch Zimmerman by 20 points.

Thursday’s admission will include a coupon of $3 that can be used for Saturday Night’s event.  Genesee Speedway is located just east of the Batavia city limit on Route 5 at the Genesee County Fairgrounds.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Genesee Speedway Going Strong to End June

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (June 21, 2017)- The Genesee Speedway continues to roll along with more Saturday Night action this weekend before the lights go off on the fairgrounds in preparation for the biggest event of the year.

This Saturday, June 24, Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel presents a Super 6 and 6:00 program, which includes the return of the 360 Late Models.  Saturday will also be Boy Scout Night, as all Boy Scouts in Uniform will be get free general admission.  This Saturday will serve as the end of the first portion of the 2017 season, with the following Saturday a bye week in preparation for the big ULMS Super Late Model show on Thursday, July 6.

With all six classes on the card, it sure will be a busy night of racing, and the point races continue to take shape.  The MHL Performance Crate Late Models have a tightly-knit group at the top.  Despite not winning yet in 2017, Bill Holmes leading the standings by five points over Zack Carley, JJ Mazur and Jimmy Johnson, the three drivers to claim checkered flags in weekly races so far this year.

The Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman are continue to be led by Kyle Inman, but Andrew Smith closed the gap significantly on Saturday with his dominating performance for his first win of the year.   Smith is now just seven points back of the defending champion.

After a week off, the Ken’s Charcoal Pits and BBQ 360 Late Models are ready to return to life with a fierce three-way battle at the top.  Tommy Kemp now has two wins in 2017 and has taken a four point lead over John Zimmerman and nine points over defending champion Dave DuBois.  Tight point races are found throughout the division and expect to continue to alter after Saturday Night.

Byron Dewitt notched his second Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stock feature win of the year and is looking to gain a stranglehold on the points in pursuit of his second championship.  Defending champion Butch Zimmerman is his closest pursuant but is still in search of his first win of 2017.

James Gayton has the largest point lead of any competitor at Genesee so far, as he is 30 points up on Mike Taddonio in the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks.  Gayton has three wins thus far in 2017, but did not have his best night on Saturday, while Dante Mancuso scored the win on a last-lap maneuver to close on second in the standings.

The DML Driveway Sealing Bandits continue to thrill the crowd with a host of unexpected swings each night out.  Jessica Traxler suffered a problem late in the feature Saturday, but still holds a 10-point advantage over Marcus Jackson, who capitalized on her misfortune to notch his first win of the year.

Genesee Speedway is location just east of the Batavia city limit on Route 5 at the Genesee County Fairgrounds.  Racing action kicks off at 6:00 p.m., as it does every Saturday Night.  Pit gates will swing open at 4:00 P.M.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Genesee Speedway to be Invaded by Winged Warriors This Weekend

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (June 12, 2017)- The Genesee Speedway racing surface has been in prime condition much of this year, producing great racing and fast lap times; the quickest laps of the season may be turned this Saturday though when the smallest cars to hit surface.

This Saturday, June 17, the NY6A Micro Sprint Tour will make their first of two stops to the Genesee Speedway in 2017.  These 725 pound pocket rockets regularly turn the fastest laps that will be made all season around the ⅓-mile oval.  In a three-race series in 2016, Matt Smith came away as the champion while drivers like Tyler Walker, John Smith and Danny Knoll III scored victories.  Mickey Ciliberto scored the win last Friday at Freedom and former track champion Keith Heater is always prepared to go fast.

While the micro sprints replace the 360 Late Models for the night, the other five regular divisions will be ready to go once again.  After two wild features last Saturday, the MHL Performance Crate Late Models are hoping for a return to normalcy this weekend.  Four different drivers have won the first four races, but it is Bill Holmes who has the early point lead by just a single marker over Zack Carley, who won the 2nd feature last weekend.  JJ Mazur, who won the first feature last week but was involved in a nasty crash at the end of the night, is just two points out of first.

Kyle Inman hit his 2016 stride last Saturday in the Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman, holding off Andrew Smith for his first win and building an early point lead over Sarah Johnson, as well as Smith.  Byron Dewitt is also holding a quality point lead, as he is 14 points up on defending champion Butch Zimmerman in the Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks, with Jesse Qutermous a close third after his win on Saturday.

James Gayton was declared the winner of the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stock feature and thus continues to build his advantage in his pursuit of his first title.  Gayton now has three wins in 2017, as does Jessica Traxler, who won her third DML Driveway Sealing Bandit feature in as many weeks and now has the point lead to go with it.  The 360 Late Models have the night off after an exciting feature last week with Tommy Kemp scoring his second win of the year over Dave DuBois to take over the point lead.

Racing action, as always, kicks off at 6:00 P.M., with pit gates swinging open at 3:00 P.M.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Genesee Speedway Prepared for Action-Packed Program Saturday

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (June 8, 2017)- This weekend will be the fifth week of the 2017 season regular season at the Genesee Speedway, but the dust on the opening night event will not be settled until this Saturday.

This Saturday, June 10, U.S. Chrome will present a “Super 6 at 6:00” Program.  As an added bonus, the 20-lap Crate Late Model feature that was postponed on May 13 due to rain will be run early in the night.  In all, 7 features will be contested on the 1/3-mile oval.

Jimmy Johnson has the early point lead in the MHL Performance Crate Late Models of his first win two weeks ago. But the new and improved contingent will not let him run off with things, especially with 13 different drivers winning the 18 Crate Late Model races that have been contested at Genesee in the last two years.

The Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman return after a rare week off.   Kyle Inman’s three third-place finishes have him tied atop with standings with the most recent winner Sarah Johnson.  A total of seven drivers could have the point lead after Saturday Night.

The Ken’s Charcoal Pits 360 Late Models have featured three different winners in as many events.  Defending champion Dave DuBois got back to his winning form on Saturday Night but knows wins in 2017 are going to be harder to come by.

After two big weeks of Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks, Byron Dewitt holds a 14 point lead over defending champion Butch Zimmerman.  A host of drivers have been close to breaking through for their first win of 2017 and may have what it takes this Saturday.

Action in the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks had a flashback to 2016 with a duel between Brad Shepard and Dante Mancuso, with Mancuso prevailing. James Gayton still leads the standings on the strength of his two wins.  Gayton, along with DML Sealing Bandits driver Jessica Traxler are the only drivers with multiple wins in Batavia thus far this year.  Despite the two wins for Traxler, Allison Dewitt holds the early point lead in the youth division.

Racing action, as always, kicks off at 6:00 P.M. with pit gates swinging opening at 3:00 P.M.  Genesee Speedway is located the Genesee County Fairgrounds and features racing every Saturday Night through Labor Day Weekend.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Genesee Speedway Prepared for Highest Payout to Date this Saturday!

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (June 1, 2017)- This Saturday, June 3, was always slated to have a lot of attention given to it, but with some last-minute developments things are about to get even more exciting at the Genesee Speedway.

The first appearance by the RUSH Late Model Tour will be a matchup between hometrack heros and invaders from the south.  This marquee event will pay $2,000 to the winner.  In 2016, the inaugural season of weekly crate late model action at Genesee Speedway, 11 different drivers went to Victory Lane, and even though Jimmy Johnson was not one of them, his win last weekend sure made up for it.  Johnson will lead the group against invaders like RUSH point leader Bryce Davis, who won in his only start in Batavia in 2016. The car count should be impressive, as will the racing.

The fun will not stop with the late models though as Dennis Cummings of Cummings Trucking has kick-started a chain reaction of purse inflation throughout the pits.  Cummings, along with MHL Performance, Saturday Night’s sponsor, the Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks will now pay $1,000-to-win.  Last week’s Gene Dewitt Memorial was already a big-paying show, with point leader Byron Dewitt coming out on top, but this last-minute boost should see a host of invaders to the 1/3-mile oval.

The Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks will also get in on the fun as the Genesee Speedway will make their feature $300-to-win, with additional money spread throughout the top 10 finishers.  Point leader James Gayton is the only driver to win two features thus far in 2017 and will surely be one to watch in this big race.

Saturday will also mean the return of the popular Ken’s Charcoal Pits 360 Late Models, who had last week off.  Also on the card Saturday are the DML Sealing Bandits.  The Cornerstone Eye Associates Sportsman will have the night off.

Racing action, as always, kicks off at 6:00 P.M. with pit gates swinging opening at 4:00 P.M.  Genesee Speedway is located the Genesee County Fairgrounds and features racing every Saturday Night through Labor Day Weekend.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.

Crate Late Models Finally Ready to Rumble at Genesee this Saturday

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (May 22, 2017)- The MHL Performance Crate Late Models are still waiting to get their second season of competition at the Genesee Speedway truly underway, and when they do so this Saturday, big money will be on the line.

On Saturday Night, May 27, Close Racing Supply will present a special $1,000-to-win event for the Crate Late Model division.  The headline division had their feature rained out on opening night and took last weekend off for a RUSH tour race at Stateline Speedway, so many drivers are itching to hit the 1/3-mile oval.

Jeremy Wonderling, who won this event last year over his brother, Brady, scored the RUSH win on Saturday at Stateline and could be a factor once again.  While some invaders may factor in to the mix, the face of the division is ever-changing.  Defending champion Beamer Guzzardi is no longer in the No. 94, with car owner Mark Sundt putting the helmet back on.  Dave DuBois, the winningest driver in the class in 2016, sold his car as well to focus on other late model ventures.  Heat wins on opening night went to Doug Ricotta and Andy Michael.

The Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks will have their biggest race of the year on Saturday Night with the $500-to-win Gene Dewitt Memorial, presented by BWS Bar and Grill.  Butch Zimmerman won the event last year, which was marred by heavy pile-up in turn four. Zimmerman, the defending track champion, is still looking for his first win in 2017.  Kenny Begnouche was the big winner last Saturday, stealing the win away from Jesse Qutermous coming back to the checkered flag.  The race has significant meaning for Byron Dewitt, who has the early point lead.

The Cornerstone Lasik Center Sportsman continue to roll along following a dominating performance by Greg Mrzywka on Saturday Night.  Mrzywka will not just look to go back-to-back this weekend, he will have his crate late model back in action to double his chances of winning.  Opening night winner Ray Smith holds the early point lead in a tie with defending champion Kyle Inman.

Things will somewhat return back to normal for the Pellegrino Auto Sales Mini Stocks after they ran double features this past Saturday.  Chad Dickinson and James Gayton were the big winners, with Gayton taking the early point lead. A host of newcomers to the division were in the mix this past week and will look to continue to gain their footing Saturday.

Allison Dewitt claimed the thrilling win in the DML Driveway Sealing Bandits Saturday and now has a share of the point lead with Marcus Jackson, who she narrowly defeated back to the line.  The bandit division has seen 6 different drivers already take a turn at the lead of the heat race or feature and should continue to provide tight racing all season.

As a reminder, the Bandits have been added to the racing card on June 3rd.  Also noteworthy, this Saturday is one of the few nights off for the Ken’s Charcoal Pits BBQ 360 Late Models.

Genesee Speedway Set for Second Showcase on Saturday Night

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (May 15, 2017)- After a busy opening night of competition at the Genesee Speedway, late rains left a little bit left to be desired heading in to the second week of the season.  Some teams will still be looking to compete in their first feature of the year while for others the realities of the season will become more resolute after night two is complete.

This Saturday, May 20, Reynolds Auto Parts NAPA and DC Enterprise will present an exciting card of racing at the Genesee Speedway.  The MHL Performance Crate Late Models have the night off due to a RUSH Tour race but all of the other exciting divisions are back, including a make-up race for the Pellegrino Auto Sales mini stocks as their feature last week was rained out.  With defending champion Brad Shepard not out there, things are a little different in the division this year and many names are ready to pounce.

The Cornerstone Lasik Sportsman had a strong green flag run in their opening feature with Ray Smith making the long tow from the Southern Tier to score the win.  Smith was strong, but so too were the vast names breathing down his neck over much of the second half of the race.

Tommy Kemp won the Ken’s Charcoal Pits BBQ 360 Late Model feature that was shortened by rain, but that quality field of cars that finished will be geared up for this Saturday before a weekend off on Memorial Day weekend.

Adam Depuy barely held off Byron Dewitt in the Yasses Trucking and Construction Street Stocks but at the end it was Dewitt suffering a mechanical failure.  Jesse Qutermous arguably had the quickest car at the end of the night and will be one to watch out for this Saturday.

Olivia Coniber put on a clinic in the DML Sealing bandits and will look to surpass her win total of last year on the second night.  The healthy field of bandits will have something to say about it though.

Genesee Speedway Season-Opener Washed Out

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (May 5, 2017)- Before the first competitive green flag of 2017, the Genesee Speedway has already matched its rain out total from last year.

Early Friday Morning, Genesee Speedway management made the decision to postpone the 2017 season opener, presented by Kohorst Custom Homes & Remodeling, for one week due to persistent rains.  With the Genesee County Fairgrounds already at its water threshold and precipitation not ending any time soon, a difficult decision become an easy one to make.

Not only is time spared with this decision,  but even if things were somehow dry enough come Saturday Night, cold temperature, combined with the likelihood of a of difficult track conditions would not bode well with a full summer of action ahead.

Next Saturday, May 13, County Line Stone presents a Super 6 program starting at 6:00 P.M.  This will feature the Crate Late Models, Sportsman, 360 Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Bandits battling it out on the 1/3-mile oval. It will kick off the first of 20 race dates featuring a visit by the ULMS Super Late Models on Thursday, July 6 and the first ever Topless Crate Nationals on September 16th and 17th.

Genesee Speedway Breaks Ice on 2017 Season

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY, (April 22, 2017)- The long wait for racing season is finally over, and to celebrate spring conditions, practice day not only served as an appetizer for race teams, it only added excitement for the 2017 season.

On a cool yet partly sunny afternoon, the 1/3-mile Genesee Speedway was the star as it was in pristine condition with only rare moments of dust combined with an incredibly smooth surface around the oval.  It was a terrific opportunity for teams to prepare for the long season ahead.

A total of 66 teams took the track for the test session, including three modifieds who brought the best time of the day down to 17.3 seconds.  The six weekly divisions all had representation from at least 7 cars with the sportsman topping out at 17 cars.

Once the practice sessions were concluded, the track was wetted down for the Spring Fling 100-lap Enduro.  Exactly 50 cars took the green flags and within 2 laps the paint jobs were covered deep under mud.

Five red flags flew during the course of the race, which allowed for a wide range of variability in the race.  A total of six lead changes occurred throughout the event, none more notable then on lap 76 when leader Harry Vosburg’s #12H was unable to fire after a red flag, throwing away his 2-lap lead.  Dale Rissinger Jr inherited the lead and passed every car that was left running over the final 24 laps to claim the win in his Chevy Lumina.  Jason Roncone rebounded from early incidents to finish second while Micah Brown rounded out the top three.

The Genesee Speedway will lay quiet next Saturday in preparation for opening night on Saturday, May 6 when Kohorst Custom Homes & Remodeling presents a Super 6 program starting at 6:00 P.M. It will kick off the first of 20 race dates featuring a visit by the ULMS Super Late Models on Thursday, July 6 and the first ever Topless Crate Nationals on September 16th and 17th.

Genesee Speedway is located just each of Batavia on Route 5 at the Genesee County Fairgrounds featuring Saturday Night racing on the 1/3-mile dirt oval including Crate Late Models, Sportsman Modifieds, 360 Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Bandits.  For more information, visit www.Genesee-Speedway.com.
